17YO Arrested For Reckless Driving, Causing 4-Car Crash

Police said he was traveling at an excessive rate of speed and lost control of his vehicle.

YORKTOWN, NY — A 17-year-old teenager was arrested after a four-car crash. Yorktown Police said the young male, whose name is being withheld due to eligibility for youthful offender status, was charged with reckless driving, a misdemeanor, and several traffic infractions: speed not reasonable and prudent, fail to keep right, fail to obey no passing markings, driving on the shoulder, unsafe lane change, fail to use designated lane and modified exhaust.

Police responded to Crompond Road in the area of Elizabeth Road around 1:43 p.m. Jan. 26 for reports of a four-car personal injury automobile accident.

After an investigation, police found that the 17-year-old was traveling at an excessive rate of speed and lost control of his vehicle.

He was arrested at the scene and was taken to Yorktown Police Headquarters.

The teen was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court Feb 27.
