17YO Kmart Employee Arrested For Stealing From Store

Police said he stole cash and gift cards.

YORKTOWN, NY — A 17-year-old Peekskill resident was arrested in Yorktown for allegedly stealing from a Kmart. Police said the young man, whose name is being withheld due to eligibility for youthful offender status, was charged with misdemeanor petit larceny.

An officer was dispatched to Kmart for a report of an employee who was in custody for past thefts. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

Police said when the officer arrived it was determined the 17-year-old had stolen cash and store gift cards valued at $275.95.

He was arrested and taken to police headquarters.

The man was released on $100 bail to a parent and is due back in Yorktown Justice Court Nov. 14.
