2 Shoplifting Arrested Made at Jefferson Valley Mall on the Same Day

Police said one of the suspects removed a security device in order to get the merchandise out of the store.

YORKTOWN, NY — Yorktown police were busy Dec. 23 making arrests for shoplifting at the Jefferson Valley Mall.

Around 1:15 p.m., police responded to Sears and arrested William A. Pisani, 33, of Peekskill.

Police said he took merchandise worth $399.96, after taking the security device from one of the items and walking past checkout without paying.

He was taken to the Yorktown Police Department and charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor. Pisani was released on his own recognizance and is due to appear in court Jan. 24.

Police returned to Sears around 8:30 p.m. and arrested Brett L. Augustowski, 31, of Peekskill, charging him with petit larceny as well.

Police said Augustowski put two pairs of sweat pants into a Sears shopping bag and went out of the store without paying for them.

The merchandise was worth $74.

Augustowski was process at police headquarters and issued an appearance ticket. He was released on $100 bail and is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 24.
