2 Teens Arrested After Dispute Over Phone: Police

Police said one of the teens punched someone and the other teen displayed a knife.

YORKTOWN, NY — Two teens were arrested in Yorktown after a dispute over a cellphone. Yorktown police charged a 16-year-old Cortlandt Manor boy, whose name is being withheld, with third-degree attempted assault, a misdemeanor, and 19-year-old Zachary Blechner, of Buchanan, with second-degree menacing.

Shortly before 11 p.m. June 27, police responded to 1916 Commerce St. for a reported dispute.

An investigation found that a dispute occurred between the victim and the two teens over a cellphone.

Police said the victim was punched by the 16-year-old, and during the incident, Blechner displayed a knife.

Both teens were taken to the police headquarters for processing.

The 16-year-old was released to a relative and is scheduled to answer the charge at the Department of Probation July 9.

Blechner was released on his own recognizance to appear in Yorktown Justice Court July 25.
