2 Yorktown, Somers Students Named As Regeneron Scholars
There were 27 students selected from the Hudson Valley, including two from Yorktown and Somers who are in the running for a trip to DC.

YORKTOWN, NY — Dozens of students from the Hudson Valley were named Scholars (or semifinalists) in the Regeneron Science Talent Search 2018. Students from Somers High School and Yorktown High School were honored, and are now in the running to be among the 40 finalists who will compete for thousands of dollars in scholarships.
There were a total of 27 students from the Hudson Valley who were named Scholars. There were 300 in all, selected from the 1,818 students who entered the competition this year. Each of the Scholars will receive a $2,000 reward, and their schools will also receive $2,000.
"Regeneron is thrilled to partner with Society for Science & the Public to celebrate the 300 Science Talent Search scholars," said Hala Mirza, vice president of corporate communications and citizenship at Regeneron. "We are inspired by their curiosity and passion for discovery, and congratulate them on their work and dedication. We hope the Regeneron Science Talent Search shows young people everywhere that they can change the world through STEM."
