2017-18 School Calendar For Somers

SOMERS, NY — The first day of school may be closer than you think. So, it’s time to dust off those backpacks and make some plans. To help, here are some important dates noted in the Somers Central School District Calendar for 2017-18:

• Staff Orientation: Aug. 30-31
• Labor Day: Sept. 4
• First Day of School: Sept. 5
• Rosh Hashanah (school closed): Sept. 21-22
• Columbus Day (school closed): Oct. 9
• Professional Learning Day (no students): Oct. 10
• Veterans Day (school closed): Nov. 10
• Thanksgiving: Half day on Nov. 22, schools closed Nov. 23-24
• Holiday recess (school closed): Dec. 25-Jan. 1, school resumes Jan. 2
• Professional Learning Day (no students): Jan. 12
• Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday (school closed): Jan. 15
• President's Day, Winter Recess (school closed): Feb. 19-23
• Professional Learning Day (no students): March 9
• Good Friday, Spring Recess (school closed): March 30-April 6
• Memorial Day (school closed): May 25-28
• Half-day Professional Learning Day for PES/SIS: June 1, June 15
• Half-days: June 21-22
• Last day of school: June 22
