Advocacy Group Concerned About Northern Westchester Developments
The alliance plans to raise money to hire consultants and experts who can challenge proposals.
YORKTOWN, NY — A new group, concerned about development plans in northern Westchester, have vowed to make itself heard — in meetings, at the polls and in court, if necessary. The Greater Teatown Defense Alliance is an advocacy group for Cortlandt, New Castle, Ossining and Yorktown.
The group is working on becoming a nonprofit and plans to raise money to hire environmental experts and consultant who can challenge proposals, the Journal News said. Organizers of the alliance have said that some zoning boards ignore environmental impact and legal precedent, not to mention residents’ concerns, in pushing through developments.
