SOMERS, NY — A Westchester County nursing home worker has been arrested after being accused of mistreating a patient she should have been protecting, according to police.
The New York State Police say that on Saturday, around 11:30 p.m., troopers responded to Paramount at Somers Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, located on State Route 100 in the town of Somers, after receiving a report of an incident that had taken place between a staff member and a resident.
An investigation conducted by uniform members and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Somers fount that a staff member, 36-year-old Nashecka K. Moodie, of the Bronx, spit on and struck a 91-year-old resident.
Moodie was arrested and charged with misdemeanor second-degree endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person; and the violation of second-degree harassment.
She was arraigned on Sunday in the Town of Somers Court, and released on her own recognizance. Moodie was scheduled to return back to court on Monday evening.
State police say that a full stay-away order of protection has been issued on behalf of the victim.
