YORKTOWN, NY — A disturbing betray of trust has led to a felony arrest, according to police.

On April 29, Yorktown police received a report from a resident of the Country House, an assisted living facility located on Baldwin Road in Yorktown, of a larceny and identity theft. The facility told police that an unknown suspect stole a credit card from the victim's residence and tried to use the credit card in White Plains.

On May 14, police received a report from a different resident of the Country House about a larceny and identity theft. In this case, an unknown suspect stole three credit cards from the victim's residence and used the credit cards in Port Chester.

Both cases were turned over to the Yorktown Police Department Detective Division, which was able to identify Hughes as the prime suspect in both cases.

Hughes, who was an employee of the Country House, was taken into custody after a traffic stop.

After arrest processing, Hughes was arraigned before a judge and released on her own recognizance. She was due to appear before the Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday.

The YPD Detective Division says that it completed the investigation with the full cooperation of the Country House Administration.
