Annual Bulk Refuse Drop-Off Set For Somers

The drop-off is only for residents of the town and identification must be shown.

SOMERS, NY — The annual bulk refuse drop-off for the town of Somers is set to begin Saturday.

It will run through Saturday, Nov. 13 for Somers residents only. Identification showing Somers residency is required.

The drop-off will be at City Carting & Recycling, Inc., 241 Route 100 in Somers. The location is across from the Somers Highway Department.

Hours for the bulk refuse drop-off are from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Acceptable household items include mattresses, furniture, carpeting, wood, bicycles, non-commercial construction debris and all electronic waste.

Not accepted are hazardous or toxic materials (see Westchester County environment and recycling guidelines) and commercial construction materials.

The price is $25 per car; $30 per minivan SUV or station wagon; $45 per pickup truck or small van (up to 3 cubic yards) and $86 per ton for a truck larger than a pickup.

Propane tanks no larger than 20 pounds cost $10 each to drop off; refrigerators and air conditioners, $35 with freon and $10 without freon (must have sticker).
