CareMount Medical Makes Coronavirus Tests Available To Public
Both the test for infection and antibodies is being offered.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — CareMount Medical, which has offices throughout Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Columbia and Ulster counties, as well as New York City, will be making tests for the new coronavirus without any restrictions. The tests will be available through its urgent care and office locations.
CareMount patients who want to be tested can walk into a CareMount Urgent Care location or schedule a virtual visit with their provider online or by calling 1-833-525-0221. Non-CareMount patients can visit a CareMount Urgent Care location for evaluation and testing.
Two types of tests are available. The first is a nasal swab test used to detect the presence of the new coronavirus, and results are returned within 24 to 72 hours.

According to medical experts, a positive result from the nasal swab test means the virus, or at least remnants of it, is still in your body and you might be infectious.
The antibody test indicates if you have been exposed to the virus and your body made a reaction to it. Having antibodies to the new coronavirus does not equal immunity, the medical experts said. Masks must still be worn and social distancing should still be practiced.
Having antibodies may make you eligible to donate plasma, doctors said.
All results will be communicated back to those tested by their provider's office to discuss what the results mean and what next steps should be taken.
“Patients can feel comfortable knowing they are working with their personal providers to get the care they need through this pandemic and beyond. COVID-19 testing is another step CareMount Medical has taken to provide seamless care to our patients and communities through provider offices, laboratories and urgent care,” said Scott D. Hayworth, M.D., president and CEO of CareMount Medical.
