Celebrating HV Seniors: Brianna Monte Of Lakeland HS

SHRUB OAK, NY — Many senior students in the Hudson Valley were expecting to celebrate their final year with prom, graduation and other milestone events. However, the new coronavirus crisis has meant that dreams and long-awaited celebrations have been put on hold.

Patch would like to shine a light on these amazing young people and their accomplishments; a new series "Celebrate Your Senior," inviting proud parents and others to spotlight the young people whose accomplishments can't be derailed by the pandemic.

Gina Monte nominated Brianna Monte, a senior at Lakeland High School.

Here's what the proud mom had to say about her daughter:

"Brianna Monte is a senior at Lakeland High School. For the past four years she has excelled academically, taking many AP and Honors courses. She also is the president for both Relay for Life and the Italian National Honor Society. She played varsity basketball from ninth through 12th grade, and was made captain for her senior year. She has made so many friends throughout her high school days. She truly cares about others, and has a big heart. She also has a great sense of humor which resulted in many smiles and laughter along the way. We are so proud of her, and feel heartbroken that this year didn’t finish out the way it should have. She won’t walk the halls with her friends again, sign yearbooks at the senior picnic, go to prom or graduation. Senior year may have been cut short, but we know that her dreams and hopes are still intact, and she will go on to do amazing things!
