Cigarette Thefts A Habit In Yorktown: Police

Police arrested a Wurtsboro man on Saturday.

YORKTOWN, NY — A 29-year-old from Wurtsboro, NY is accused of repeatedly stealing cigarettes from Yorktown gas station stores. Arrested after a chase on Saturday, Christopher Thomas Trowbridge faces a felony robbery charge plus two counts of petty larceny, misdemeanors

At 8:45 a.m. Saturday police were called to Shell of Yorktown on Commerce Street. While they were on their way, they were told that the suspect was running away down Kear Street. They located him being chased by the gas station attendant and a Good Samaritan who he had injured when he bolted from the store.

Once the suspect was in custody, he was taken to Yorktown Police headquarters.

While they were investigating, police allege they found out that he had stolen a carton of cigarettes Sept. 13 from the Gulf Station on Commerce Street, and another on Sept. 21 from the Sunoco on Crompond Road.

He was arraigned in Yorktown town court. Bail was set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond. He was taken to Westchester County Jail and is due back in court Tuesday.
