Congratulations to five district student musicians named to Area All-State Groups

Five Lakeland School District student musicians selected for Area All-State groups.

Congratulations to five Lakeland Central School District student musicians for being honored with their selection to the Area All-State groups.

They include: Julianna Christopolous (LHS, 11th Grade), Sarah Taxter (WPHS, 11th Grade), Cary Abramson (WPHS, 11th Grade), Ariana Vida (WPHS, 11th Grade), and Tatiana Stevenson (WPHS, 10th Grade).
This year, Lakeland has students in all five performing groups - Women's Choir, Mixed Choir, Band, Symphony Orchestra, and String Orchestra, said Jamie P. Stroffolino Coordinator of Music K-12.

The Area All-State groups are open to all public school music students in Westchester County. Students who are selected must perform a NYSSMA solo in the year prior to the Area All-State festival and receive an excellent rating, as well as a solid teacher recommendation. Even then, entrance into one of the Area All-State groups is very competitive - essentially, the students with the highest of scores and recommendations
within all of the top scores and recommendations are selected.
