I’m sitting here in a forum at the Mahopac library. The discourse got a bit heated at times but it’s still somewhat civil.
But I’m disappointed.
I put a lot of effort into a very detailed, very sincere reply to the scathing post directed at me by Celeste Theis. I sent her the link with a genuine apology and held out an olive branch.

Let me be clear: I support my friends. I KNOW them. Kevin Byrne and Terrence Murphy locally, Marc Molinaro, Jon Trichter and Keith Wofford statewide, Chele Farley nationally. They are all extraordinary, dedicated public servants. I have supported Democrats as recently as this past year because they too are my friends. That’s how I roll.
So why am I disappointed?

Celeste Theis is sitting directly across the aisle from me and rather than approach me as a neighbor she has stared me down with a look that could kill.
It shouldn’t be that way.
The room is clearly split with Democrats simply being louder. That doesn’t matter to me. I am sitting next to Democrats and we are engaged in pleasant chatter about coffee and cookies.
All I ask is that people rise above the division that tears our communities apart.
Please.
