YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, NY — As a potentially deadly heat dome moved over the region, police say a woman left a dog in car at a Westchester business.

Yorktown Police report that a 33-year-old woman was served with an appearance ticket for violating confinement in a motor vehicle, a town code violation.

On Tuesday, at 4:18 p.m., police responded to a complaint of a dog locked in a vehicle for an extended period of time. An officer was able to locate the vehicle in a parking area at 795 Route 6 Yorktown, and later identified the dog's owner, according to police.

Jessica Claudio was issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court on Aug. 11.
