Storm Heads North: Work Week Weather

The week will alternate dry, wet: Get the details for Somers and Yorktown.

Sunshine and seasonable temperatures start the work week off in Westchester County.

“The weather story however, is the storm in the southeast that will head up the coast on Monday night,” said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather. “ It’s a tricky forecast, because the rain shield may split and spare the Hudson Valley from a steady soaking rain. Even so, the forecast is for scattered showers to break out in the morning, with a steadier period of rain possible for the afternoon.”

Rain is expected to reach the northern suburbs of NYC Tuesday morning.

But, said Kristina Pydynowski, an AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist, Tuesday’s rain will be mostly a nuisance for travelers and those with outdoor plans.

Reduced visibility and water ponding on roads, heightening the risk of vehicles hydroplaning, will slow down motorists. Outdoor activities could be forced indoors or postponed.

Drier weather will return for Veterans Day on Wednesday as the storm system responsible for the rainy Tuesday departs, she said. “However, residents should not pack their umbrellas too deep into closets. The arrival of a cold front will quickly return some rain on Thursday with noticeable cooling and brisk winds to follow for the upcoming weekend.”
