Dutchess Man Steals Power Equipment From Yorktown Lowe's: PD

Police said the man was found to be in custody on an unrelated charge.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Dutchess County man was accused of stealing power equipment from Lowe's Home Improvement in Yorktown.

The Yorktown Police Department said it received a report of a theft from Lowe's Nov. 23.

The responding officer's investigation found that, around 2:40 p.m. Nov. 20, someone took outdoor power equipment values at $1,396 from the store without paying for it.

Michael J. McGinness, 47, of Poughkeepsie, was identified as the person and an arrest warrant was requested.

On March 25, the Yorktown Justice Court issued the arrest warrant for the charge of fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony.

Around 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, Yorktown police received a call from the Dutchess County Department of Corrections saying it had McGinness in custody on an unrelated charge.

A couple of hours later, he was placed under arrest by members of the Yorktown Police Department.

McGinness was arraigned in the Yorktown Justice Court and sent to the Westchester County Jail.

He is schedule to return to court Aug. 23.
