Garbo Talks will be the featured film for February as part of the 2011-2012 International Film Festival sponsored by the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers. It will be shown Friday, February17, 7:30 p.m. at the Maryknoll Mission Center, 55 Ryder Road in Ossining. Admission is free.
Garbo Talks is a 1984 U.S. film from director Sydney Lumet. The story centers around the son of a woman dying from a brain tumor. He tries to fulfill his mother’s last wish – to meet Greta Garbo.
The film festival provides nine monthly offerings from September to April. The current series, Life through Death: The Redemptive Capacity of Humor, includes an introduction by a Maryknoll missioner and a brief discussion after the screening.
