Fatal Motorcycle Crash on the Taconic

New York State Police report a fatal crash Sunday on the Taconic State Parkway between Bryant Pond Road and Peekskill Hollow Road involving two motorcycles and a car.

Their investigation revealed that a group of about six motorcycles were traveling northbound at high speed. The lead rider failed to negotiate a turn in the roadway and lost control of his bike, striking the center guide rail, police said.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Several northbound vehicles reduced their speed after witnessing the crash. A second motorcyclist struck the rear of a car and was ejected from his motorcycle. That rider was transported to Hudson Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The names of the motorcyclists are being withheld pending notification to their families.
