Fire Destroys, Damages Buses, Garage In Yorktown [PHOTOS]

YORKTOWN, NY — A two-alarm fire destroyed a bus and two others were damaged Wednesday in Yorktown. Fire officials said the Bedford Hills Fire Department was passing through the area and noticed a column of smoke coming from a structure on Front Street shortly after 5 p.m.

The building was the Baumann & Sons Bus Corporation, the Journal News said.

Officials said the fire was quickly knocked down and was held to a bus repair area of the garage.

Besides the damage to the buses, the garage section was heavily damaged, firefighters said.

Among the fire departments assisting at the scene were Bedford Hills, Croton, Millwood, Mount Kisco, Ossining and Buchanan.

The fire is currently under investigation. The scene was turned over to the Town of Yorktown building inspector.
