Former County Legislator Arrested On Drug Charges

He is scheduled to return to court Sept. 13.

YORKTOWN, NY — A former chairman of the Putnam County Legislature has been charged with illegal drug possession. Robert McGuigan Jr., 60, of Carmel, was arrested by Yorktown police after allegedly being found smoking crack cocaine in the Jefferson Valley Mall parking lot Aug. 1.

McGuigan, who is a general contractor, was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, the Journal News reported.

He served in the county legislature from 1997 to 2009.

McGuigan was arraigned and released without bail to return to Yorktown Justice Court Sept. 13.
