Tom Newman Opens Business to Serve Community and Support New Family
(Somers, N.Y.)—When Tom Newman opened his EmbroidMe business he wasn’t just thinking about his own future, but the future of his family. A new father to a one-year-old, Newman is moving on from his past in financial services to create a new career that will serve local businesses and organizations in his community and help secure his little girl’s future. The new store, which opened in Somers on Jan. 20 in the Somers Commons Shopping Center at 80 Route 6, will serve Somers and all of Westchester County.

“I am excited to bring EmbroidMe’s high quality services to businesses and community organizations in Westchester County,” Newman said, “After years of long commutes I am excited to be working here in my community and establishing long-term relationships with business owners and so many of our outstanding local organizations, clubs and teams.”
Newman, a resident of Somers, has over two decades of experience in the financial sector, five years running a staffing firm and seventeen years as an operations manager. For most of his career he was a senior executive on Wall Street, working for RBS and JP Morgan. He left that world looking for a new challenge and to do work that would better serve his community, and found that opportunity with EmbroidMe.

EmbroidMe is the world’s largest diversified promotional products franchise, helping organizations brand themselves and make an impression by customizing marketing products that feature a name, image, logo or message. The company specializes in embroidery, garment printing, custom apparel, promotional products, screen printing and personalized gifts.
Newman chose EmbroidMe as the business in which to invest his future after realizing that his community was underserved in regards to promotional products and branded apparel. “I spoke to local business owners,” he said, “and almost all of them were either unhappy with their current providers or did not have a go-to company to help provide promotional items for their businesses.” He met with EmbroidMe president Mark Johnson and was impressed by the business model, systems in place for new owners and endless support offered by the corporate team.
“I liked that it was a global company, and I really liked its structure,” he said. “It has a fantastic model, on-going support. I felt confident as a new owner.”
That confidence, he is sure, will translate into success in his first year in business. He is certain his experience juggling high-pressure situations on Wall Street, and the drive he feels to provide for his daughter, family and community, will create the perfect blend to bring the best services to the businesses and community organizations of Westchester County.
