Frances C. Cambere, of Somers, Dies at 102

Frances C. Cambere, of Somers and a former longtime resident of Pelham and Bronxville, died Thursday, Dec. 27 at Waterview Hills Nursing Home in Purdys. She was 102.
Cambere was born March 25, 1910 in Mount Vernon to Emanuel and Carmela (Ciatti) Cuzzi.
She attended schools in Mt. Vernon and was a member of the first graduating class of Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville majoring in Liberal Arts. While in college, she was active in tennis, golf and fencing and later received a business degree from Katherine Gibbs School in New York City.

The woman enjoyed a successful and interesting business career, associated for many years with the Seas Shipping Co., Inc. of New York, a family holding corporation which owned and operated numerous worldwide trade cargo ships. Throughout her life, Cambere enjoyed spending time with family, traveling worldwide, reading, cooking, playing bridge and watching sports.
She married Ara Cambere on July 10, 1971. Cambere was predeceased by her husband, Ara, her brothers: Joseph, Nicholas and Frank Cuzzi and her sister Anna (Nina) Orsenigo.

She is survived by a large and loving family including her dear sister, Rita Kenedy of Saranac Lake, NY, her stepchildren: Yvonne Cambere, Sandy Mumbach, Peter Cambere, Kathy Muller, John Cambere and Rick Cambere, her step grand and great-grandchildren, and her eleven nieces and seven nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's RC Church, 10 Croton Falls Road in Croton Falls. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in New Rochelle.
