Gashi Endorsed for County Legislator by Westchester Officials

Campaign to Succeed Retiring Incumbent Mike Kaplowitz Continues to Gain Momentum

A large group of elected officials from across Westchester have endorsed Vedat Gashi’s campaign for Westchester County Legislator in District 4, stressing that Gashi’s experience, values and positions on key issues make him highly qualified to succeed retiring incumbent Democratic county legislator Mike Kaplowitz.

“I am proud to receive the support of this diverse group of distinguished elected officials, especially the support of Mike Kaplowitz,” said Gashi. “I look forward to collaborating with them to help pass important legislation, improve the delivery of vital government services and advocate for all residents of this district by putting the interests of our families first.”

The endorsing officials are Assembly member Tom Abinanti; Assembly member David Buchwald; Assembly member Sandy Galef; County Executive George Latimer; County Board of Legislators Chair Ben Boykin; County Board of Legislators Majority Leader Catherine Parker; County Legislator Mike Kaplowitz; New Castle Council Member Ivy Pool; New Castle Council Member Jeremy Saland; Somers Town Council Member Richard Clinchy; State Senator Peter Harckham; State Senator Shelley Mayer; Yorktown Supervisor Ilan Gilbert; Yorktown Clerk Diana Quast; Yorktown Councilmember Vishnu Patel and Yorktown Councilmember Alice Roker. Additional endorsements will be announced by Gashi’s campaign in the coming weeks.

Gashi, a Yorktown resident, is running on the Democratic, Independence, Green and Working Families party lines. This fall, for the first time, registered voters in Westchester County will have an additional nine days to cast their ballot, starting on October 26 and leading up to Election Day on November 5. Early voting details are available from the Westchester County Board of Elections.

Westchester County Board of Legislators District 4 includes New Castle, Somers and Yorktown in Northern Westchester.
