Wellness was the theme of a two day program at George Washington Elementary School.
The school, part of the Lakeland Central School District, held it's first Wellness Day on October 24th (Grades K-2) and October 25th (Grades 3-5). The initiative was started to promote the school site based team goal and district goal of promoting wellness.
The event focused on Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and how to control one's emotions. "We want to focus on strategies that parents and students can apply throughout their everyday lives" said Principal Tracy Norman.

"It was really nice to open that dialogue for the families to begin having open conversations with their children about their feelings" added School Psychologist Dr. Heather Doherty.
