Hamptons Man Accused Of Swiping Credit Card From Westchester Gym: Police

After pilfering a credit card at a Yorktown gym, he used it in Putnam County, and was captured on the Hutch in Pelham Manor, police said.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — A Long Island man visited a Hudson Valley gym for reasons other than getting a good workout, police said.

Yorktown police say the 36-year-old resident of East Hampton has been arrested and charged with felony fourth degree grand larceny and felony fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property.

On October 1, police responded to Club Fit in Jefferson Valley, on a report of the theft of a wallet. After an investigation, they found that the victim's credit card had been recently used in Putnam County. Video footage from the location where the card was used helped police identify a suspect vehicle which led to Mark A. Ripolone being identified as a suspect. Police were also able to place Ripolone at Club Fit at the time of the theft.

Surrounding law enforcement agencies were notified of the suspect vehicle. On October 3, around 2:30 p.m., the vehicle was spotted on the Hutchinson River Parkway by Pelham Manor, where Westchester County police stopped the vehicle, being driven by Ripolone, and notified Yorktown police.

Yorktown detectives were sent to Pelham Manor and arrested Ripolone and took him to the Yorktown Police Department. Ripolone was processed and later arraigned before the Honorable Judge Raniolo, who remanded him to Westchester County Jail. He was then turned over to the custody of the Westchester County Department of Corrections, with a return date of October 8.
