What police mean about being released to a sober third party

YORKTOWN, NY — A Somers resident appeared in Yorktown town court Friday to answer a charge of driving while intoxicated. There, he was charged with a second DWI count.
Police said Edward J. Furci Jr. of Amawalk was arrested Sept. 16 and charged with DWI. After, he was processed at the Yorktown police and court facility on Route 202, he was released to a sober third party.
That person took Furci to where his car was impounded, at Yorktown Auto Body. Then, police allege, Furci drove himself home.
