Hudson Valley Weather: Odds Change For First Accumulating Snow

We've been talking for days about the chance of the Hudson Valley seeing its first accumulating snow. There are changes to the forecast.

Top meteorologists are all in agreement Wednesday that the much discussed potential first accumulating snow of the season in the Hudson Valley is trending now to be bust. Sure, we may see some flakes in the air late Friday and during the day on Saturday but currently computer models show that the storm is expected to remain largely off-shore and have minimal to no impact on the state.

AccuWeather senior meteorologist Alex Sosnowski said that most of the Northeast will be dry and cold, because it will be well away from lake-effect snow bands, as two storms — one at the end of the week and one during the weekend — work their ways through the region.

As of Wednesday, “it appears the most likely scenario is for much of the interior Northeast to be spared a significant snowfall,” he said. “In fact, people living in much of the interior may not even see a flake of snow from the first storm.”

The second storm will likely bring patchy snow and snow showers Saturday night into Sunday. Any accumulation will probably be to the west of the Hudson Valley.

However, anyone traveling during the weekend should pay attention to the weather forecast in case conditions change.
