Swimming 

We thank Kennedy Catholic for the below submission. We think it's wonderful that this group of ladies is doing this and wish them the best of luck:

A group of Kennedy Catholic alumnae will be taking part in this Saturday's Swim Across America at the Larchmont Yacht Club, 1 Woodbine Ave. in Larchmont, in memory of their deceased classmate, Maureen McAvoy '06.  

Maureen died in 2007 following her freshman year at Fairfield University. She had previously been in remission from a brain tumor, but the cancer returned following her graduation from Kennedy.

Of the 12 team members:

• 10 are Kennedy Catholic graduates - includes Maureen's sister, Kelly '03, and cousin, Elizabeth '03
• 9 will be doing the 1-mile swim - 8:30 a.m. start
• 2 will be volunteering on land
• 1 will be doing the 4-mile swim - 7:30 a.m. start

Check-in is from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m.
