Kennedy Catholic’s varsity volleyball team captured the CHSAA New York City Championship on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Cardinal Spellman High School.
The Gaels, who are coached by Anthony Santora, swept St Joseph Hill 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-13) in the final round.

In pool play, the girls bested St. Edmund’s (25-9, 25-3) and St. John’s Prep (25-18, 25-21). Kennedy did not drop a set on the day.
The Gaels finished their incredible season with an 18-4 record.

On top of being the City Champions, the team also received a number of individual awards. Senior captain Kelly Gallagher was named the Bronx/Westchester League Player of the Year. Gallagher, along with seniors Mary Burns, Joanna Weidenhamer and Katelynn Ryan, were named All-League.
