Kentucky Derby Comes to Yorktown

The address is not Churchill Downs, but Veterans Road at the American Legion Hall on Saturday, May 7. Come celebrate the Kentucky Derby with food, drinks, games, and special events by the Yorktown Lions. 100% of proceeds will benefit Yorktown Youth.

The festivities begin at 4 pm on Saturday, May 7 for adults only. The entrance fee of $45 includes a Kentucky Derby celebration like no other in Yorktown!

Arrive “dressed to the nines” for a Best Hat and Best Bow Tie contest, test your skills at horseshoes and your luck with horseracing games and raffles before viewing the 148th Run for the Roses.

Enjoy the Southern Tasting Fare to include Al’s fresh pit-cooked pulled pork sliders, Savannah’s fried chicken & waffles and shrimp & grits along with collards, cornbread, mac-n-cheese and more before rolling over to the dessert table filled with derby pie, banana pudding, strawberry shortcake and hospitality cookie platters including everyone’s favorites!

Sweet Tea and Lemonade will be flowing with fresh sprigs of mint while the All Seasons Wine & Spirits will provide a Bourbon Tasting and Maker’s Mark Mint Juleps. A cash bar will also be provided by the American Legion.

The Grand Prize Cash Cube will follow the actual Kentucky Derby Run (viewed on large tv screens) and fabulous raffle baskets. The Lion’s Derby Cash Cube will allow two separate raffle winners to each enter the cube and race to grab $1000 of flying cash.
