Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School Holds Hair Donation Event

All hair donations will go to a nonprofit group created as a resource for all children with medical-related hair loss.

JEFFERSON VALLEY, NY — The Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School held its fifth annual Hair-A-Thon Monday at Hair Liberation on Hill Boulevard in Jefferson Valley. According to organizers, hair donations will go to Children With Hair Loss, a nonprofit group created as a resource for all children with medical-related hair loss.

There were 31 donors who gave 116 ponytails, according to district spokesman.

The Children With Hair Loss website said the organization provides human hair replacements at no cost to children and young adults who may have lost their hair due to cancer treatments, alopecia and other diseases and disorders.

A customized human hair replacement system care kit for a child with hair loss can cost up to $5,000, according to Children With Hair Loss.
