Lakeland High School Welcomes Chris Cummings as New Principal
Lakeland High School officially welcomed its new principal, Christopher Cummings, March 1
Lakeland High School welcomed its new principal March 1 as Christopher Cummings officially began his time as principal at the school.
Mr. Cummings comes to Lakeland HS from Walter Panas HS where he has been an assistant principal since July 2013. Before moving to Panas in 2013, Chris was an assistant principal at Lakeland HS (2008-2011) and Lakeland Copper Beech MS (2011-2013) and a music teacher in at Lakeland and Walter Panas as well as the middle school.
“With his wealth of experience in the district as both a teacher and administrator, we believe Chris will continue Ms. Yurish's record of strong leadership at Lakeland High School as we move forward,” said Superintendent Dr. George Stone. Lorrie Yurish retired as principal on February 29, 2016.

It is with great excitement that I introduce myself as the Interim Principal of Lakeland High School. As a former student, teacher and administrator in the Lakeland Central School District, it is a privilege and honor to rejoin the dedicated faculty and community at Lakeland High School. I look forward to working with you and your students in a safe,welcoming and positive environment for all to learn and grow."
As the third quarter moves swiftly along, I am confident we will continue to maintain high expectations for our students. We remain committed to providing the highest quality of education possible by combining, academic excellence with a variety of co-curricular opportunities for students. At Lakeland High School we encourage students to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners who can make a difference in the world.
Over the next few weeks, I look forward to introducing myself to you at one of the many upcoming school wide/community events. Our work together as a community is crucial.
I am committed to helping each student achieve their best as they are valued and worthy of our best efforts.
