Lakeland HS Future Business Leaders Host Regional Meeting

The FBLA Fall District 3S Meeting held at Lakeland High School October 21, 2016, was a huge success with many schools from the region attending.
Many FBLA State Officers from nearby District 3N attend and assist with our District 3S Officers, Casey Grosso, Julianna Prato, and Carly Rankin, all three from Lakeland High School to host the District 3S FDM.
The State Officers joining us were Chris Pereira & Rahul Atluri from Carmel High School, Daniel Willis from Monroe-Woodbury High School, and Gillian Mathews from Tri-Valley High School.

The keynote speaker was Jonathan Riseberg from the Brooklyn Nets/NY Islanders/Barclay's Center Front Office. Presenters offered various workshops including Brett Murphy from the ALS Association, this year's
charity chosen by NYS FBLA, and Mr. Mohammad Naraghi from Manhattan College, according to FBLA Advisor Charlene Nigro. The students participated in many different workshop offerings throughout three
different sessions during the evening and participated in a coin challenge to benefit the NYS FBLA Foundation, said Ms. Nigro.

They also held interviews to elect local District Officers for the positions of District Historian, District Reporter, District Event Planner, District Social Media Specialist, and District Treasurer. Following dinner, there was a Battle of the Chapters with Lakeland HS's Zoie Lagoudis placing first in the friendly competition, and certificates being handed out. "We look forward to planning and hosting the Spring District 3S Meeting here at Lakeland High School on Thursday, February 9, 2017," said Ms. Nigro.
