Congratulations to Lakeland High School Senior Sophia Low who was selected for the prestigious New York State School Music Association's (NYSSMA) 2018 All-State Treble Chorus.
Last spring (2018) she received a perfect 100, earning her a place in the Conference All-State women's choir that performed in Rochester earlier this month. Sophia has participated in the NYSSMA Solo Festival for the past three years. In the spring of 2017 she had received a 98 on her Level 6 solo, earning her a place in the Westchester Area All-State.
This is Sophia's 4th year in the LHS chorus. She plays mallets for Concert Band and Wind Ensemble. She also serves as a student conductor and runs choir rehearsals when Ms. Chan Chee is absent. In the past she has accompanied the chorus on the piano and performed one of her NYSSMA solos on our spring concert (2017), accompanied by her grandmother, who is a retired music educator
