Lakeland Schools Seeking Community Input for New Superintendent

Survey underway; community meetings slated for Jan 13 and 14

The Lakeland Central School District (LCSD) Board of Education (BOE) announced at its December 12th board meeting that district stakeholders, including parents, students, teachers, support staff and local citizens, will be invited to help identify the personal and professional qualities they seek in a new superintendent. There will be several opportunities to provide input, including:

    The link can also be found on the district’s website and hard copies of the survey can be obtained at any school front office or the district’s administration building.
  • Two community forums conducted by the recently retained superintendent search firm School Leadership, LLC:
    • January 13, 2020, 7:00 p.m. Lakeland High School library
    • January 14, 2020, 4:45 p.m. Walter Panas High School library
  • Additional focus groups will be conducted by School Leadership, LLC the week of January 13. These will be by invitation and include students, parents, teachers, support staff, and district leadership.

“The BOE is committed to seeking input from the community in the search for a new superintendent and is working closely with School Leadership to provide a variety of opportunities for everyone’s voice to be heard,” said Michael Daly, Board of Education President. “In addition to the survey, forum and focus groups, the Board of Education always welcomes feedback during the public comment section of its business meetings.”

The board will dedicate a section of its website to providing information about the search, including a timeline of the process, news and a link to the survey. It will also communicate updates via social media channels, email and at scheduled Board of Education meetings.

Results of the survey, forums and focus groups will be presented to the public by School Leadership at the Board’s January 23rd Business Meeting at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School, 7:30 p.m. It will also be made available on the Lakeland Central School District website.
