Lakeland Singles Out Custodial Staff For Praise
In a post that appeared on Valentine's Day, the school district called out custodial staff for their dedication.

SHRUB OAK, NY — The Lakeland Central School District sent a Valentine of sorts to members of its staff Friday. A posting on Facebook and the district's website by Superintendent Dr. George Stone called out the district's custodial staff for the critically important job they do.
"When the school day ends in Lakeland, an additional school shift begins," Stone said. "Once students and staff have left, the extensive preparation for the next day begins.
He pointed out that the cleaning and custodial staff do more than empty trash and mop floors.

"They are the primary caretaker not only of the buildings but the outside grounds and traffic areas," Stone said.
And especially this time of year, when flu is making the rounds, the custodians spend a considerable amount of time sanitizing furniture and fixtures in classrooms and the buildings.
