Lakeland's Opening Day Goes Smoothly

Even with new start times, everyone settled in. View the picture gallery.

Schools opened smoothly on Tuesday, September 4 in the Lakeland Central School District. The 5,600 students began the new 2018-2019 school year with new starting times district wide to meet new York State attendance guidelines.
The district's adjusted start times this year has classes beginning and ending on the following schedule:

  • Elementary - 8:20am-2:30 pm
  • Middle - 9:00 am-3:37 pm
  • High School - 7:20am-2:02 pm

In addition to new more than 22 new teaching staff district wide, new assistant principals were welcomed at Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School, Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, and Lincoln-Titus ES. Two new Special Education supervisors also began work this summer.
