Local Karate Students to Compete in Martial Arts World Cup.

This May, seven members of Jim Smith Karate's "Team Prestige" will wear a new uniform as they represent the United States as part of Team USA, at the World Cup in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

These students were chosen to represent by Hanshi Jim Smith of Jim Smith Karate, where they are long time students. The students are: Carleigh Meyer, 15, of Yorktown Heights; Nick Moros, 15, of Somers;  Aliyah Meyer, 17, of Yorktown Heights; Danielle Maccariello, 14, of Mahopac; Kayla Cosme, 12, of Mahopac; Gabriel Leahy, 11, of Katonah; and Victoria Gerry, 12, of Somers.

Team Members will host a Spring Fling at Jim Smith Karate on April 5th from 12-3 to raise money for the event costs. They will host a bake sale, have a 50/50 raffle as well as raffle off items donated by community business owners, and perform karate demonstrations.   In addition, they will run a car wash at the Mobil Mart on Route 100 in Somers on April 12th from 9-3.
