Mahopac Couple Accused Of Breaking Into Home, Assaulting 2 Others

After the couple was arraigned, a judge issued a temporary order of protection on behalf of the victims, police said.

YORKTOWN, NY — Two Mahopac residents were accused of burglary after police responded to an assault complaint at a Yorktown home.

Yorktown police said Danielle J. Hartmann, 25, and Michael F. Ahearn, 29, who both live at the same address in Mahopac, were charged with first-degree burglary, a felony.

Additionally, Hartmann was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and Ahearn was charged with misdemeanor criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation.

Police said officers were sent, around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, to check out an assault complaint at a Yorktown home.

After an investigation, police said that Hartmann and Ahearn broke into the home and Hartmann struck another person in the head with a metal pipe.

Police also said Ahearn choked a man, cutting off his breathing, inside the home.

The couple left the scene before police arrived, but, shortly after, went to police headquarters where they were arrested.

They were arraigned, and a judge issued a temporary order of protection on behalf of the two victims.

Hartmann was released after posting $10,000 bail; Ahearn, after posting $2,500.

They are scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court Thursday.
