Mahopac Pair Faced Drug Charges: Police
Police said one person had drugs and the other wanted to take possession of the drugs.
YORKTOWN, NY — Two Mahopac residents were accused of having or trying to have illegal drugs. Yorktown police said, shortly before 4 p.m July 14, officers conducting an ongoing drug investigation saw a car, driven by Danielle Hartmann, 24, of Mahopac, that crossed over the double yellow line into oncoming traffic.
Police said Hartmann then met with Matthew Piro, 35, also of Mahopac.
A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation found that Hartmann had more than 300 packets of heroin and some Diazepam pills, police said.

Police also said Piro was trying to take possession of the drugs from Hartmann.
They were arrested and taken to the Yorktown Police Headquarters.

Hartmann was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.
She was arraigned and released on her own recognizance to appear back in Yorktown Court Aug. 25.
Piro was charged with seventh-degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. He was processed on the charge and released on his own recognizance. He is due back in Yorktown Court Au. 27.
