Mall Employee Accused Of Faking Return Transactions
He put the money on gift cards, police said.

YORKTOWN, NY — An employee at the Jefferson Valley Mall was accused of stealing more than $1,000 from the store where he worked. Yorktown police said David James, 26, of Yorktown, was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony.
Police said they received a report Aug. 20 from H&M in the mall that alleged an employee had been making fraudulent return transactions and was placing the money on gift cards without the authorization of the store.
Following an investigation, police said James had completed 10 separate transactions between Aug. 12 and Aug. 14 totaling $1,019.80.

He voluntarily appeared at police headquarters Aug. 22 where he was placed under arrest.
After processing, James was released on his own recognizance and has been scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court Sept. 25.
