Man Killed In 1-Car Crash Friday ID'd By Police
Passers-by helped until emergency service providers arrived on the scene in Yorktown.

YORKTOWN, NY — The man was killed on the Taconic State Parkway Friday when his car veered off the roadway has been identified by the state police. The accident happened on the southbound parkway north of Exit 11 (Route 134) in Yorktown around 8 a.m.
The operator and sole occupant of the car was Darsin Sandro, 54, of Long Island City, police said. He was driving south on the Taconic when his vehicle exited the roadway onto the center median and struck a tree.
Sandro was taken by EMS professionals to Westchester Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.

The Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department posted on its Facebook page that multiple off-duty nurses, ex-military personnel and civilians stopped to help before first responders arrived.
