Man Killed In House Explosion Was Pine Plains Firefighter

Lawrence Pariseau, 61, was an emergency medical technician and company chaplain for the Pine Plains Fire District.

PINE PLAINS, NY — The man who was killed in an explosion at his Pine Plains house was a firefighter.

Lawrence Pariseau, 61, was killed Wednesday when his house exploded, and his wife Kim Dunn, 62, was injured.

According to a Facebook post by Pine Plains Fire & Rescue, Pariseau was an emergency medical technician and company chaplain for the Pine Plains Fire District, Hose Company and Ladies Auxilliary.

"Our condolences and prayers to his wife, Kim, and their family," the post said. "Rest In Peace Brother."

The New York State Police said the explosion occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Hoffman Street in the town of Pine Plains.

Dunn was pulled from the wreckage by a neighbor and a firefighter. She was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Pariseau was found dead in the remains of the building.
