Around 60 dogs and their owners took a two-mile walk around FDR State Park to help raise money for Dogsindanger.com.
The website helps promote the adoption of dogs who are scheduled to be killed by animal shelters that can't afford to keep them alive any longer.
Partcipants were treated to live music, free food and a silent auction with all kinds of doggie goodies. Along the actual walking course, inspirational signs were posted with quotes from famous people about dogs.

Shana Wall from the CBS reality show "Amazing Race" was on hand to promote the cause, saying she is "a big animal lover and is happy to help out any way she can."
Running the walk-a-thon were Dogsindanger.com co-founders and Chappaqua residents Alex Aliksanyan and Brenda Bush.

"We had about three hundred registered dogs and owners for today's event," Aliksanyan said, "but the threatening weather might have affected the actual turnout."
But their fundraising goal had been reached and as a result, they will be producing a national public service announcement.
The dog-saving website, which has about 550 registered animal shelters nationwide, claims to save about 86 percent of the dogs posted on "death-row". The two years that it has been up and running, Dogsindanger.com says it has saved around 37,000 dogs.
When asked about their ultimate goal, Aliksanyan said, "Legislation should be passed that would establish a federal website allowing all dogs the opportunity to be adopted and spared from destruction."
