Mohegan Lake Man Charged With Assault, Menacing
Police said he menacing the victim with a kitchen knife and a hammer.

YORKTOWN, NY — A 22-year-old man was arrested after a domestic incident that allegedly turned violent. Yorktown Police said Jose Velasquez, 22, of Lexington Avenue in Mohegan Lake, was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree menacing, both misdemeanors.
Police said they responded to a Yorktown residence around 7:45 p.m. Jan. 23 for a report of a physical altercation.
An investigation found that Velasquez struck the victim in his face and body, as well as kicking him in the back causing injury, police said.

During the incident, Velasquez grabbed a kitchen knife and a hammer while threatening the man, causing him to fear for his safety, police said.
Velasquez was arrested and taken to the Yorktown Police Department.

He was processed on the charges and arraigned in the Yorktown Justice Court, where a temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim.
Velasquez was sent to the Westchester County Jail on $15,000 bail.
He is next scheduled to appear in court Jan. 25.
