Officials Caution Customers About Water Line Insurance Solicitations
The Yorktown Water District said leaks are rare and it "neither endorses nor supports these types of water service line insurance plans."
YORKTOWN, NY — The Yorktown Water District says that it has received questions and concerns about mail and flyers, including door-to-door flyer distribution, from American Water Resources Homeowner Waterline Protection.
The town clarified that these are unsolicited marketing items with the homeowner's name and address on them. This company is attempting to sell insurance to homeowners to cover repairs to their water service line.
While the Yorktown Water District owns and maintains water lines from the water main up to and including the shutoffs in yards, homeowners are responsible for water lines from the shutoffs into their homes.
