Ossining Man Accused Of Felony DWI

The man was arrested after the truck he was driving collided with another vehicle, police said.

YORKTOWN, NY — An Ossining man was accused of drunken driving after colliding with another vehicle. Yorktown police said Manuel Cochancela, 36, of Ossining, was charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated–blood alcohol content 0.18 percent or more, felonies, and unsafe lane change, fail to signal, following too closely and unlicensed operation, traffic violations.

Police said that, around 2:15 p.m. Jan. 22, an officer on patrol saw a red Ford truck turn from Lee Road onto Route 6, at which time the truck turned erratically and failed to signal before colliding with another vehicle traveling west on Route 6.

An investigation found Cochancela was the driver of the truck.

A computer check revealed he did not have a license and had a prior conviction for DWI in the past 10 years.

Cochancela was arrested at the scene and taken to police headquarters where he was given a Datamaster breath test.

He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance to a responsible adult.

Cochancela is scheduled to appear in again in Yorktown Justice Court March 12.
