Ossining Man Accused Of Stealing From Credit Union

Police said he stole the money using an online check cashing scam.

YORKTOWN, NY — An Ossining man was arrested for stealing from a credit union. Yorktown police charged Julio R. Cruz 22, of Broadway in Ossining, was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony.

Police were sent to investigate a theft at the Hudson River Financial Federal Credit Union in Mohegan Lake Aug. 2.

Cruz, police said, engaged in an online check cashing scam between June 2 and June 13.

He allegedly stole more than $1,000 cash from the credit union.

Cruz voluntarily surrendered at Yorktown Police Headquarters on Aug. 9 when he was taken into custody.

He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to reappear in court Sept. 20.
